How to Use the 'Masked Text' Component in wolkvox Studio
Table of Contents
Introduction
The "Masked Text" component allows you to hide sensitive customer information (such as document numbers, passwords, or other private data) from reports generated in wolkvox Manager, ensuring data security.
This component is designed for use in ChatBot flows, within the "Basics" component group. Its function is to mask the value captured in the txt_query variable from the preceding "Responder chat" component. The sensitive data is replaced with masked text, displayed as: MaskedText: xxxxx in reports.
Note: This component does not delete or hide data elsewhere in the application—it only masks it in reports available in wolkvox Manager, such as the CDR Routing Interactions and Chatbots report in the "Diagram Reports" section.
Important Notes:
- The "Masked Text" component does not require configuration—simply place it in the flow.
- Masking applies only to the txt_query captured by the immediately preceding "Responder chat" component.
- To mask multiple consecutive inputs, place a "Masked Text" component after each "Responder chat" that captures sensitive data.
Configuration
- In your ChatBot flow in wolkvox Studio, locate the "Masked Text" component in the "Basics" menu.
- Drag and place it immediately after the "Responder chat" component whose txt_query variable you want to protect.
- No additional configuration is needed, as this component has no settings window.

- Once the flow is deployed and a report is generated in wolkvox Manager (e.g., the CDR Routing Interactions and Chatbots report), you will see that sensitive values appear as MaskedText: xxxxx, ensuring private customer data remains hidden in reports.
- This way, you can enhance the security of your interactions and comply with best practices for protecting sensitive data.
