Introduction

To send and receive WhatsApp messages from the wolkvox platform—whether through automated flows, campaigns, bots, or agent interactions—it is necessary to configure a WhatsApp connector. This connector acts as a bridge between WhatsApp Business API (or alternative methods) and your wolkvox operation. This guide explains step-by-step how to perform this integration from wolkvox Manager, with its various options (Official Cloud API, unofficial mobile, etc.), depending on the type of connector you choose.

Access the WhatsApp Connector Configuration Panel

  1. In wolkvox Manager, click on the "⚙️ Configuration" icon in the top right corner.
  2. Then navigate to the "Omni Channel" tab.
  3. Within this tab, select the "WhatsApp" sub-tab.
  4. Click on the "+ ADD WHATSAPP ACCOUNT" button.

Select the Type of Connector

A form will appear to select the type of connector. Depending on your case, you can choose from several options:

  • Official Integration (Meta Cloud API): This category ensures direct connection with Meta's servers, offering maximum stability, high message volume, and official support. It is subdivided into three types according to the configuration method:
    • Official WhatsApp: Requires manual entry of keys (Token, WABA ID, Phone ID).
    • Direct Official WhatsApp: Uses Meta's guided assistant (Login with Facebook) for the simplest configuration.
    • Direct Official WhatsApp Client App: Requires entering the App ID and Secret, in addition to the keys, for clients who have their own Meta Developers App.
    • Critical Requirement: All official connectors require having an active payment method in Meta Business Manager to operate without restrictions.
  • Mobile Integration (Unofficial): This method does not use Meta's API and is based on emulating a WhatsApp Web session using a physical mobile device and a QR code. It is ideal for small operations, but it carries inherent risks (medium probability of blocking, no SLA, and a limit of 6,000 messages per day).

If You Chose "Official WhatsApp"

This connector allows you to link your wolkvox operation with WhatsApp through Meta's Official API (Cloud API) using the Embedded Signup process. This method is recommended for its stability and ease of configuration.

Prerequisites

For the configuration to work correctly with the official WhatsApp Business API (WhatsApp Cloud API / Business API), you must meet the following:

  • Have a verified business account (WABA) in Meta / Business Manager.
  • Have an exclusive phone number for the API (not previously associated with personal WhatsApp or Business App).
  • Have correctly configured the Meta application with the WhatsApp product enabled (App ID, secret key, permissions, etc.).

Advantages

  • Ability to send and receive messages programmatically, from automated flows, bots, CRM, or integrated systems.
  • Scalability and reliability: the infrastructure is hosted by Meta, eliminating the need for your own servers.
  • Compatibility with multiple agents, chatbots, automations, mass messages, integrations with CRM/external platforms.
  • Compliance with WhatsApp Business official policies, minimizing risks of blocking, suspension, or delivery issues.

Configuration

When you select "Official WhatsApp" as the connector type, a form with the following fields appears. Below are the fields and what each one represents:

  • Name (Optional): Internal name you want to assign to this connector configuration. It is used to identify the connector within wolkvox (useful if you manage multiple numbers/accounts).
  • Routing Point – ChatBot: Select the Chat/Bot routing point to which incoming messages from this number will be routed. It is mandatory.
  • wolkvox Token: Token used by wolkvox to authenticate the connection with the official API; it acts as an internal credential between wolkvox and WhatsApp via API.
  • wolkvox URL: URL that identifies the integration endpoint for this connector within wolkvox—usually used to receive webhooks or handle communication between wolkvox and Meta/servers.

  • wolkvox Key or name app: Internal name of the application or public/secret key of the Meta application associated. This field is necessary for wolkvox to identify your Business account in Meta.
  • WABA name: Visible name of the WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) you are configuring. It can be used to distinguish different accounts or business contexts.
  • wolkvox Phone number: Phone number associated with the WhatsApp Business Account. It must include country code + area code + number, in international format. This will be the number that your customers will see and from which messages will be sent/received.
  • Once you complete all the required fields, press the "Add WhatsApp configuration" button to save and activate the connector.

If You Chose "Official Direct Client App (Cloud API)"

This type of connector is designed for clients who want to use the capabilities of WhatsApp's Cloud API but already own and manage their own Application (App) within Meta's developer portal.

It allows for total control over the Meta App configuration, requiring manual entry of all credentials generated in the developer portal.

Configuration

When you select "Official Direct Client App (Cloud API)" as the connector type, a form with the following fields is displayed:

  • App Identifier: The App ID of the application created on the Meta/WhatsApp developer platform. It allows identifying the client application that will use the API.
  • App Secret Key: The App Secret associated with the App ID, used to authenticate requests from wolkvox to the official API.
  • "Continue" Button: Once the data is entered, this button starts the validation/association of credentials.
  • After this initial configuration, you must set:
    • Name: Internal name assigned to this configuration to identify the line.
    • Routing Point – ChatBot: Dropdown menu to associate the line with the Routing Point (Chatbot flow) of wolkvox Studio. It is the routing point (Chat/Bot) within wolkvox where incoming messages from WhatsApp will arrive.

If You Chose "Official Direct (Cloud API)"

This connector allows integration with Meta's Cloud API in a manual way, by directly entering the account credentials. Unlike the "Client App" integration, this connector is generally used when specific control over the Token and WABA ID is required, or when the Meta App is managed by a third party (such as a wolkvox Partner).

After this initial configuration, you must set:

  • Name: Internal name assigned to this configuration to identify the line.
  • Routing Point – ChatBot: Dropdown menu to associate the line with the Routing Point (Chatbot flow) of wolkvox Studio. It is the routing point (Chat/Bot) within wolkvox where incoming messages from WhatsApp will arrive.

If You Chose "Mobile WhatsApp (Unofficial)"

This method uses an "unofficial API" or alternative method to connect WhatsApp to wolkvox: it is usually based on replicating the mobile app/WhatsApp Web session, not Meta's official API.

It is an option that can be quick to configure, with few technical requirements (an active mobile line, SIM, internet connection). This allows small businesses or simple implementations to use WhatsApp in wolkvox without the need for complex infrastructure.

This connector allows you to use a conventional WhatsApp line (associated with a mobile device and SIM card) by integrating it into wolkvox through a process similar to WhatsApp Web Linked Devices.

Terms and Conditions of Use

Since this connector does not use Meta's official API, its use is subject to the following terms. It is mandatory that the user or company understands and accepts these conditions before implementation:

  1. The API is not part of Meta's official API portfolio.
  2. Although it is stable, the service could become unavailable at any time.
  3. The probability of service blocking is medium.
  4. The cost of operation is low (compared to Cloud API).
  5. Sending Limit: Up to 6,000 messages per day.
  6. The API is compatible with multiple devices.
  7. File Limit: It is possible to share files up to 2MB.
  8. The response speed is acceptable.
  9. It has email support.
  10. It does not include API for mass sending.
  11. It does not include free conversations.
  12. The connector does not have Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  13. To use the connector, you must have a mobile device and SIM card.

Configuration

When selecting "Mobile WhatsApp (Unofficial)", a form with the following fields appears:

  • Name: Internal name assigned to this configuration to identify the line.
  • Routing Point – ChatBot: Dropdown menu to associate the line with the Routing Point (Chatbot flow) of wolkvox Studio. It is the routing point (Chat/Bot) within wolkvox where incoming messages from WhatsApp will arrive.
  • wolkvox Phone number: The actual mobile phone number you want to associate with the platform (including country code).
  • After filling in the fields, click the "Register phone number" button.

QR Code Scanning

  • Click the "Get QR Code" button to generate the QR code image on the screen.
  • Take the mobile device associated with the registered number.
  • Open the WhatsApp application and navigate to Settings > Linked Devices > Link a Device.
  • Scan the QR code generated in wolkvox Manager to associate the account.
  • The line will change to "Connected" status once the scan is successful and the physical device maintains an internet connection.

Troubleshooting: Restarting Mobile Linking

In case of connection errors or unlinking of this type of connector, you can reset the account without deleting the entire configuration:

  • Go to the account list and select the edit option for the mobile connector.
  • Click on the options icon (three vertically aligned dots).
  • Select the "Factory reset" option to reset the account configuration.
  • Go back to the three-dot menu and select "Logout phone" to unlink the current mobile device session.
  • Finally, select "QR Code" to generate a new code and scan it with the mobile device to relink the line.
